Animals by Color
Description
The animal kingdom is filled with a variety of vibrant colors. There are so many different shades and hues that if you put all of these animals together, it would literally look like a rainbow! In this lesson, children sort animals from Steve Jenkins’ book Living Color and learn how these particular animals use color to survive.
A great extension for this activity would be to look for other animals in books, magazines, or even on your next outdoor adventure, and then sort them into these colorful categories. Why might these creatures be a certain color? How do their colors help them survive? Which animal color is your favorite?
