Tree Exploration

Description

A wonderful way to dive into a study of trees is to grab tree guide and embark on an outdoor exploration. Try to see how many different kinds of trees you can find in your own backyard or neighborhood. How
are they alike? How are they different? Do any of them match the trees on our tree guide?

This is great time to discuss how to be respectful of nature and the trees we observe. If you want to bring back items for scientific studies, it’s important to collect only the things you find on the ground (seeds, leaves, nuts, branches, buds, flowers) and not pick anything directly from a tree. Bring along baskets for collecting, a nature journal to sketch your findings, and some favorite art materials. Then find a place to sit amongst the trees and enjoy the sights and sounds!
