Dyeing Easter eggs is a yearly tradition for many families whether you have toddlers, preschoolers, or even older children!
If you’re looking for a different process this year, rather than purchasing the traditional (and often expensive) egg-dyeing kit, try out some of our other favorite ideas:
- Decorate the eggs with natural dyes by gathering ingredients you may already have at home. This is also a great history lesson for children; early settlers used these same types of techniques to dye clothing!
- Use the silk-tie method by transferring the colors and patterns from old fabric onto the eggs.
- Decoupage paper napkins onto your eggs. All you need is Mod Podge, beautiful napkins, and a paintbrush.
- Color your eggs with bleeding tissue paper. This is so easy for littles!
- Marbleize your eggs with shaving cream and food coloring. To make this one super safe for the littles, substitute Cool Whip for shaving cream. Pre-soak your eggs for 2 minutes in vinegar and try neon food coloring for brighter colors.
